The Untitled GCPD project was a planned TV series for HBO Max set in the same world as the 2022 film The Batman.
HBO Max announced plans for the show in July of 2020, with development being spearheaded by filmmaker Matt Reeves and writer/producer Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire). The show would have been set in the same world as the movie and will build upon the motion picture’s examination of the anatomy of corruption in Gotham City, ultimately launching a new Batman universe across multiple platforms.
However, by November of 2020, Winter had departed the project over creative differences. In January of 2021 it was announced that Joe Barton (Giri/Haji) was set to serve as showrunner.
In a March 2022 interview, Reeves discussed a show that "connects to Arkham." At the time, it was unclear if he was referring to this project or a third spinoff series.
However, Reeves subsequently revealed that the GCPD series is, "on hold," and the Arkham series is a separate project.
The Batman producer Dylan Clark was also producing. The show was to come from Reeves’ 6th & Idaho production company in association with Warner Bros. Television.
AMC Networks announced today plans Isle of the Dead, a mini-series spinning-off from The Walking Dead and featuring actors Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Maggie and Negan.
