Reeves Says Batman Spin-off is Arkham Asylum Focused
We've known for a while now that HBO Max is developing multiple TV series with filmmaker Matt Reeves spinning off from The Batman. One of those is a Penguin origin story, with Colin Farrell reprising that role. The other has often been characterized as focusing on the Gotham City Police Department. In a recent interview with the Toronto Sun, Reeves shed some light on these two shows, as well as a sequel.
"Colin Farrell is like you've never seen him in this movie," Reeves said. "He actually is sort of a scene-stealer. He's just so funny. He's so great. Along the way we thought, 'Oh, maybe we could do this as a series,' and when I talked to HBO Max...I showed them Colin in the movie and I talked to them about what this could be and they were like, 'let's do that.'"
With regards the the second series, Reeves does not mention the GCPD but rather says, "We're doing another series that connects to Arkham."
He also admits that he and Warner Bros. are talking about and thinking about the next movie, but wants the audience focused on the new film.
The Batman opens in theaters tomorrow.
