DC Extended Universe

The DC Extended Universe is a collection of films and TV series produced by Warner Bros. Discovery, featuring a variety of DC Comics characters, set in a shared universe.

Filmmakers Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan were initially hired as consulting architects of the series, with Snyder directing the initial installments. As Snyder's films drew consistently mixed reactions from fans and moviegoers, the studio gradually drifted away from his vision.

In 2023, Warner Bros. announced the formation of DC Studios, a new brand with the mission of adapting the characters and concepts. James Gunn and Peter Safran were put in charge of the new initiative.

2023's Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is considered the final film in the DCEU cycle.
