HBO Max has announced plans for a Gotham City Police Department drama to be developed by filmmaker Matt Reeves and Terrence Winter (Boardwalk Empire). The show will be set in the same world as The Batman, the feature film that Reeves is currently directing. According a statement released by the streamer, the show will "build upon the motion picture’s examination of the anatomy of corruption in Gotham City, ultimately launching a new Batman universe across multiple platforms."
"This is an amazing opportunity, not only to expand the vision of the world I am creating in the film, but to explore it in the kind of depth and detail that only a longform format can afford, " Reeves said in a press release announcing the project, "and getting to work with the incredibly talented Terence Winter, who has written so insightfully and powerfully about worlds of crime and corruption, is an absolute dream."
The Batman producer Dylan Clark is also producing. The show is coming from Reeves’ 6th & Idaho production company in association with Warner Bros. Television.
