Batman Spinoff Series Gets New Showrunner

Creator Joe Barton has assumed showrunner duties on the planned Gotham City Police Department TV series spinning out of the feature film The Batman, according to a report from Deadline. Barton is known for the BBC crime drama Giri/Haji and replaces Terence Winter, who bailed on the show late last year over creative differences. The series would is planned or HBO Max as a companion piece to Matt Reeves' feature film.

Morbius Now a Halloween Release

Sony's Spider-Man spinoff Morbius has been delated once more with the new release date set for October 8, reports Deadline. The film, starring Jared Leto, was originally set to hit theaters last July. It was then moved to March of this year. The latest shuffle is said to be in order to protect the theatrical prospects for what is intended to be a major franchise-starter. The studio does not want it starting on to video-on-demand market.

The official twitter account for WandaVision has tweeted out a new character poster for the show, putting the spotlight on Kathryn Hahn who plays Agnes.

Press materials for the sho describe Agnes as "the brassy, nosy neighbor of Wanda and Vision. She’s well-versed in all things suburban, happily giving Wanda a leg up in navigating the social pressures of Westview. A beloved extended member of the family, Agnes is never far away."

However, there is speculation that she is actually the Marvel Comics character Agatha Harkness, a Salem witch who trains Wanda to hone her abilities. One of the stylistic flourishes of the comics in an ivory broach, which Hahn is wearing in this poster as well as in other publicity images.

The series arrives on Disney+ this Friday

Deadpool 3 To Be MCU, R Rated

Deadpool 3 looks to be another crowd-pleaser, maintaining its R Rating and being set squarely in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige. Feige commented on the project to Collider while doing press rounds promoting Wandavision.

"It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and [Ryan Reynolds is] overseeing a script right now," Feige told the entertainment news site. He also added the the movie will not film this year due to Reynold's busy schedule. "Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”
