Will Budget-Conscious WBD Chief Cut J.J. Abrams DC Comics Ambitions?
Deadline reports that the new leadership at Warner Bros. Discovery is looking hard at the development slate they have with producer J.J. Abrams.
WBD recently scrapped the Wonder Twins film during a round of cost-cutting, and the Deadline article indicates they are now pressuring Abrams on his hot, but expensive HBO Max series Demimonde.
While the report largely focuses on that show and doesn't specifically mention other Abrams projects as being in trouble, we do know he's developing the high-profile Green Lantern for the streaming service. He's also working on a slate of lower-profile DC titles like Madame Xanadu, Justice League Dark and Constantine for HBO Max, not to mention a Superman-themed feature film.
If WBD is proceeding with fiscal caution, any of these others may be in jeopardy as well.
