Zack Snyder's Justice League Headed for R Rating
Director Zack Snyder tells Entertainment Weekly that his director's cut of Justice League will likely land an R rating for violence and language.
"There's one scene where Batman drops an F-bomb. Cyborg is not too happy with what's going on with his life before he meets the Justice League, and he tends to speak his mind," Snyder is quoted as saying. "And Steppenwolf is pretty much just hacking people in half. "
Snyder also said he's pushing to get the four-hour HBO Max film a theatrical run.
Black Adam Adds Quintessa Swindell to Cast
Deadline reports that actor Quintessa Swindell has joined the cast of Warner Bros. Black Adam feature film. Swindell will be playing the role of Maxine Hunkle, also known as the super hero Cyclone. Cyclone is the granddaughter of the golden age Red Tornado (not the android one) who gets an injection of nano tech that gives her the ability to conjure tornados. The cast already includes Aldis Hodge as Hawkman and Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher so it's pretty clear they'll be building some sort of Justice Society around Dwayne Johnson's title character. The movie is scheduled for about this time next year.
Peacemaker Adds Executive Producer
TV creator Matt Miller (The 100) has boarded the planned HBO Max TV series Peacemaker as an executive producer, according to a report from Deadline. Miller joins executive producer James Gunn, who is also writing and direction the show, based on the character that will debut in his 2021 feature film The Suicide Squad. John Cena will play the lead role.
Marvel's Helstrom Cancelled After One Season
Hulu has pulled the plug on the Marvel Television series Helstrom after one season, according to a report from Deadline. The news is not surprising as the show was produced under the now dissolved Marvel division, which had an uneasy relationship with Kevin Feige's film studio. While the TV unit produced a plethora of shows, starting with Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., the recent surge of studio-produced projects tied directly to the film franchises is a clear indication of the desire to have the Studio to produce all live-action content for Marvel. The ten-episode first season of Helstrom is still available to view on the streamer.
