Aquaman 2 Adds Pilou Asbaek
Actor Pilou Asbaek has joined the cast of Aquaman 2, according to a report from Deadline. The article is not specific about which character the actor (best known for his run on Game of Thrones) is playing. The movie will reteam star Jason Momoa with director James Wan in hopes of repeating the success of the first film, which is the highest-grossing DC Extended Universe movie to date. The movie is currently expected December of next year.
The Boys Spinoff Lands The Flash Villain
Actor Reina Hardesty has been cast in what is being called a lead role in the planned spinoff of The Boys. Deadline reports that she'll play one of the young superheroes attending the Vought-sponsored university where the series is set. Hardesty has recently been seen on Brockmire, but also recurred on The Flash and DC's Legends of Tomorrow as the next-gen villain Weather Witch.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Debuts at #2
The Nielsen ratings service has released the streaming numbers for the week of March 15 to March 21. Marvel Studios' The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has bucked the trend of weekly-release programs and debuted at the #2 spot on the "Original Programming" pulling 495 million minutes of screen time on its first episode. Shows with weekly episode releases tend to debut lower and make a slow climb up as new episodes are released.
To be fair, the competition is weak this time, with the #1 ranked show Ginny & Georgia, only enjoying 540 million minutes, which is about one third of what the top program usually produces.
WandaVision is also still on the charts ranking #6 this week. That's down 3 spots from the previous week with the nine-episode run garnering 252 million minutes of eyeball time, a 35% reduction. So it's a fairly good week for Disney+ on a chart that is typically dominated by Netflix.
Another comic show that pops in and out of the top 10 is Lucifer, returning to claim the #10 spot once more. That series, with 75 episodes available, attracted 174 million minutes of viewrship.
