Canto Optioned for Film Animation
Westbrook Studios has optioned the film rights to David Booher and Drew Zucker's comic book series Canto, according to a report from Deadline. Booher will write the script for what is planned to be an animated film. Jon Mone is producing for Westbrook. Booher and Zucker will serve as executive producers.
The comic, originally published by IDW Publishing, is sort of an Oz-adjacent story about a tin man named Canto who lives among a community of tin men whose hearts have been replaced by clocks. He goes on a quest to find a new clockwork heart for the tin girl he loves.
The Boys Spinoff Adds Sabrina Alum to cast
Hot on the heels of its earlier report, Deadline now adds a second name to the cast of the planned spinoff of The Boys. Actor Jaz Sinclaire, known to readers of this site as Roz on Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, is cast in the role of Marie. She is another of the young Supers attending school at the Vought Industries-sponsored campus.
The Boys Spinoff Gets First Casting
The announced spin-off of The Boys has cast its first role, according to a report on Deadline. Lizze Broadway is set to play Emma, one of the young Supers attending the Vought-sponsored college for gifted youngsters. This actually sounds a bit like the serie, written by Craig Rosenberg, might be drawing from the G-Men storyline from the comics. The G-Men are essentially the X-Men, with a character named John Godolkin serving as a predatory version of Charles Xavier.
The Flash Casts its Iris West
The 2022 feature film The Flash has its Iris West, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Actor Kiersey Clemons will play the character in the upcoming movie. The news isn't entirely surprising, as Clemons also played the character in Justice League, before being edited out of the theatrical version, and then restored in the upcoming Snyder Cut.
WandaVision, Avengers: Endgame and Lucifer Enjoy Ratings Wins
Marvel Studios' WandaVision held its position in the Nielsen Ratings charts while increasing its viewership slightly. For the week of February 8-14 the Disney+ show was again #3 on the "Originals" chart. During this frame the show debuted is sixth episode and the entire series racked up 596 million minutes of viewing time, a minor 1% gain over the previous week.
Another comic-based item rejoined the list, with Lucifer on Netflix reclaiming the #10 spot with 194 million minutes of eyeball time. The show previously appeared in the top 10 last October in the wake of the release of season 5.
The WandaVision bump apparently renewed interest in Avengers: Endgame which made a showing on the separate "Movies" chart for the same period. That film pulled 136 million minutes of viewership, making it #8 on the list.
