Annie Live (2021 Special)
Annie Live! is the planned NBC live televised performance of the broadway musical Annie, based on the comic-strip Little Orphan Annie.
Celina Smith (Young Dylan) is set for the lead role. Taraji P. Henson (Empire) has been cast as Miss Hannigan, the unscrupulous headmaster of the orphanage where Annie initially resides. Harry Connick Jr. will play Daddy Warbucks, the bajillionaire to eventually becomes a father to Annie. Nicole Scherzinger is Warbuck's chief of staff. Jane Krakowski and Tituss Burgess are playing grifters Lily St. Regis and Rooster Hannigan.
The production is executive produced by Robert Greenblatt, Neil Meron, and Alex Rudzinsky, with Lear deBessonet and Alex Rudzinski sharing the directing duties. Choreography will be led by Sergio Trujillo. Paul Tazewell will design costumes. Jason Sherwood will orchestrate production design. Stephen Oremus will oversee the music direction. The live event is being produced by Chloe Productions.
