Annie Live Adds Nicole Scherzinger
Sinter/personality Nicole Scherzinger is the latest addition to the NBC's televised live performance Annie Live! The network announced that The Masked Singer panelist is set to play Grace Farrell, chief of staff to Harry Connick Jr's Daddy Warbucks who champions the little title orphan from the start. Also cast are Taraji P. Henson as Miss Hannigan. The production still has not announced their lead, but the new press release promise the announcement is coming soon. The event will air December 2 on the network.
Loki Drops to #2 Streaming Originals Chart
After spending three weeks as #1 in the Nielsen Ratings Original Streaming Programming chart, Marvel Studios' Loki has dropped to the #2 spot. It's not bad news though, considering the Disney+ series, which released its fifth episode, scored over 1 billion minutes of viewership in the week of July 5 to July 11. That's actually an increase of almost 33% over the previous frame. It just wasn't enough to top Netflix's Virgin River, which came out strong with some new episodes.
Our other comics-based ratings champ Lucifer still hung in the top 10 Originals as well. During this ratings period, the series was still reaping the benefits of new season five episodes and scored 354 million minutes of eyeball time. That's a drop off of over 21% for the Netflix show, which has 83 episodes available for viewing.
Meanwhile on the Movies chart, Marvel Studios' Black Widow scored a minor victory. That film, which was available as a paid add-on to Disney+, gathered 541 million minutes of viewership making it the #3 movie of the week.
When the three streaming charts are combined into one, Loki is #4 and Black Widow is #9.
Finally Sweet Tooth, which is in its sixth week of release during the period, fell out of the top 10.
Shang Chi and the Legend of the Six Character Posters
The social campaign for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has blasted out six new character posters for the film. The new posters feature Simu Liu as the title hero, Awkwafina as Katy, Tony Chiu-Wai Leung as the Mandarin, Meng'er Zhang as Xialing, Michelle Yeoh as Ying Nan and the assassin known as Death Dealer.
The Marvel Studios film is less than a month away, opening in theaters September 3.
