The Losers is Surprise Winner in Comics-Based Streaming Ratings
The Nielsen ratings service has published its streaming ratings for the week of August 2-8. While there were no high-ranking comic-themed movies or shows, there was one surprising standout.
The 2010 film The Losers, based on the DC Comics title, was #4 title on the streaming Movies chart. The show debuted on Netflix and rang up 336 million minutes of viewership. This is surprising for the not-so-great film to gain so much attention, but less-so when you consider the all-star cast that includes Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Zoe Saldana and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
On the Acquired programming chart, The Flash continues to run up a tally with its presence on Netflix. The series enjoyed 472 million minutes of eyeball time against 151 episodes. That's a drop of about 9% from the previous window, and also a ranking drop from #7 to #8 on that chart.
Over on the Original programming chart, Lucifer continues to linger in the rankings. The series scored 223 million minutes of viewer attention against 83 episodes. That's a 10% boost over the previous week. However, it dropped two spots in the rankings from #7 to #9.
Finally, Marvel Studios' Loki and Black Widow both dropped off the charts altogether.
Y: The Last Man Rolls Out Character Posters
The social campaign for Y: The Last Man has begun releasing new character posters for the show. While the previous set featured actors obscured by shadow with no identifying copy or context, this new set seeks to full illuminate who is who among the supporting cast of the show. Released so far are images of Juliana Canfield as Beth Deville, Diana Bang as Dr. Allison Mann, Amber Tamblyn as Kimberly Cunningham, Marin Ireland as Nora Brady, Elliot Fletcher as Sam Jordan and Olivia Thirlby as Hero Brown. They've also provided a full cast poster with all of the previously mentioned cast, as well as Diane Lane as Jennifer Brown, Ashley Romans as Agent 355 and Ben Schnetzer as Yorick Brown, the titular last living man on Earth. The new show premieres September 13 on FX on Hulu.
