The Walking Dead Leads Comics in Streaming Ratings
The Nielsen streaming ratings for the week of August 9 - August 15 have been released and this time out it is The Walking Dead is the top-ranked comics-based fare. The show, with 10 seasons and 153 episodes streaming on Netflix, gathered 606 million minutes of viewing time in the run-up to season 11. That was enough to make it, not only, the #4 show on the Acquired programming chart but also the #6 title across all steaming charts.
Also ranking on the Acquired programming chart is The Flash. That series has 151 episodes on Netflix which garnered 425 million minutes of viewership. That's a reduction of 10% over the previous week, but the show held fast to the #8 position on the Acquired chart.
On the Original programming chart, Lucifer continues to tempt streaming audiences with its 83 episodes on Netflix. That series enjoyed 198 million minutes of eyeball time. That's a loss of over 11% of its audience but not enough to move it out of its #9 ranking.
Interestingly, Marvel Studios' What If...? debuted its first episode during the week and did not assemble enough viewers to its first episode to rank on the charts.
Shang-Chi Drops Trevor and Morris Posters
The social campaign for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has dropped two new character posters promoting the film. The posters feature Ben Kingsley as Trevor and his mythical creature sidekick Morris. Trevor is a character who was first seen in Iron Man 3 as a character masquerading as The Mandarin, warlord leader of the Army of the Ten Rings. He recurs again in the Marvel Short film Hail to the King where he comes to understand that the Army of the Ten Rings exists, and its leader is not pleased to be publicly mocked. The movie is in theaters now.
