Doom Patrol
Doom Patrol is the 2019 TV series based on the DC Comics franchise of the same name.
Season one of the show debuted on the DC Universe streaming service in February of 2019. The season reimagines one of DC's most beloved groups of Super Heroes: Robotman aka Cliff Steele, Negative Man aka Larry Trainor, Elasti-Woman aka Rita Farr and Crazy Jane, led by modern-day mad scientist Niles Caulder aka The Chief. Each member of the Doom Patrol suffered a horrible accident that gave them superhuman abilities but also left them scarred and disfigured. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team found their purpose through The Chief, coming together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence. Following the mysterious disappearance of The Chief these reluctant heroes will find themselves in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse. Part support group, part Super Hero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of superpowered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them.
The season one cast includes Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele (aka Robotman), Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor (aka Negative Man), April Bowlby as Rita Farr (aka Elasti-Woman), Diane Guerrero as Jane (aka Crazy Jane), Timothy Dalton as (Niles Caulder aka The Chief) and Joivan Wade as Victor Stone (aka Cyborg). Alan Tudyk served as the season villain, Mr. Nobody.
Season two sees Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Woman, Crazy Jane and Cyborg returning to save the world. That is, if they can find a way to grow up...both figuratively and literally. Following the defeat of Mr. Nobody, the members of the Doom Patrol now find themselves mini-sized and stranded on Cliff’s toy race car track. Here they begin to deal with their feelings of betrayal by The Chief, while confronting their own personal baggage. And as each member faces the challenge of growing beyond their own past traumatic experiences, they must come together to embrace and protect the newest member of the family: Dorothy Spinner (Abigail Shapiro), Niles’ daughter, whose powers remain a mysterious but real threat to bringing on the end of the world
The second season of Doom Patrol is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television with Jeremy Carver, Geoff Johns, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Chris Dingess serving as executive producers. With episodes debuting simultaneously on DC Universe and HBO Max, the series is based on characters created for DC by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani.
