Ethan Hawke to Voice Batman
WarnerMedia Kids & Family recently announced the voice cast for their preschool-oriented animated series Batwheels. Most surprising is the news that Ethan Hawke is on board to provide the voice of Batman. The Dark Knight is not, however, the focus of the series, which instead gives the spotlight to the anthropomorphic vehicles in the Bat-family.
The primary cast then is Jacob Bertrand (Cobra Kai) as Bam (the Batmobile), Jordan Reed (Chuggington) as Redbird (Robin's Car), Madigan Kacmar (Chuggington) as Bibi (Batgirl's cycle), Noah Bentley (Elliott from Earth) as Buff (the Bat truck), Lilimar (Cleopatra in Space) as Batwing (the plan). Rounding out the team are Kimberly Brooks (Dc Super Hero Girls) as the Batcomputer, Mick Wingert (Marvel Studios' What If...?) as Moe the robot repairman.
On the human side we have AJ Hudson as Duke Thomas/Robin and Leah Lewis as Cassandra Cain/Batgirl. The show will appear on HBO Max and Cartoon Network.
Walking Dead, What If...? and Lucifer Rank in Nielsen Charts
The Nielsen ratings service has released the streaming ratings numbers for the week of August 23 - 29.
The best performing comic-based programming is, once again, The Walking Dead on Netflix. The series scored 433 million minutes of viewership against the 153 episodes available. That's a modest drop of about 6.5% but it is enough to place the show in the #9 spot on the Acquired programming chart, down two slots from the previous frame.
Marvel Studios' What If...? climbed a bit this week. The animated Disney+ series added its third episode in this window for a total of 233 million minutes of watchers. The 3.5% increase in viewership allowed it to score the #7 position on the Original programming chart, up 2 spots from the previous week.
And the show that just won't quit the streaming ratings: Lucifer harvested 190 million minutes of audience attention on the 83 episodes available on Netflix. That's actually a 6% increase as fans start to anticipate the season six drop. However, the show did not move from the #10 spot on the Acquired chart.
Loki Composer Scoring Batgirl Movie
Film score composer Natalie Holt has informed her fans that she'll be providing the music for the upcoming Batgirl movie. Holt, who just scored Loki for Marvel Studios, tweeted this morning, "Oh I’m allowed to say now, next up.. [Batgirl]," with "Batgirl" spelled as an emoji-gram.
The film is in development for HBO Max, with Leslie Grace (In the Heights) set for the lead role. Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey) has written the script. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Bad Boys For Life) are directing.
