The Flash Director Teases Watchmen Crossover via Social Media
Director Andy Muschietti, who is currently in production on the feature film The Flash, teased fans with an image from the production that is dripping (literally and figuratively) with intrigue. The photo is an extreme close-up of the Batman chest emblem. Specifically it is in the design of the one worn by Michael Keaton in the 1989 film Batman. It has long been known that the film would feature the Dark Knight of numerous alternate Earth's, with Keaton and Ben Affleck supposedly on board to reprise their respective takes on Bruce Wayne.
Even more intriguing is that the yellow emblem is spattered with drops of blood on the lower left, evoking the iconic Smiley pin from Watchmen. Given that the film is a loose adaptation of the FlashPoint storyline, which traverses alternate realities, it could mean that this film will cross over into that hallowed territory.
It's also interesting to note the actor Billy Crudup was cast in this movie, but later reports said he was no longer attached. Crudup played Doctor Manhattan in the Watchmen movie, but he also played Henry Allen (Barry's father) in the Justice League film.
