Patty Jenkins: "I Never Walked Away," from Wonder Woman 3

Last week conflicting narratives about Warner Bros Discovery's plans for Wonder Woman 3 erupted across the internet.

First there was a report that the studio had shuttered the project. This was followed by a report that director Patty Jenkins quit the project after some negative feedback from the studio.

Yesterday, Jenkins took to twitter to issue a lengthy statement in hopes of clarifying things.

The director unequivocally denies the story that she quit. Of the story, she writes, "This is simply not true. I never walked away. I was open to considering anything asked of me."

She goes on to confirm the initial version of the story, that it was the studio that halted things and the corporate restructuring was likely the reason.

"It was my understanding that there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this time," Jenkins writes. "DC is obviously buried in changes they are having to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now."

She completes the letter by expressing gratitude for the opportunity to work on the franchise, to work with Gal Gadot and Lynda Carter, and to the fans who supported the films.

James Gunn, co-chair of DC Studios, who has also tried to navigate the controversy, chimed in with a tweeted response.

"I can attest that all of Peter [Safran] and my interactions with you were only pleasant and professional," Gunn said, dismissing the notion that the situation was the result of contentiousness.
