James Gunn to Direct Superman: Legacy

DC Studios has hired a director for the planned Superman: Legacy film, according to a report from Deadline.

That director is none other than James Gunn. Gunn is well known as the writer/director of the Guardians Of The Galaxy film series as well as The Suicide Squad. He's also the writer on Superman: Legacy. He's also the producer and the co-chair of DC Studios.

The movie is meant to be the first chapter in the new Studio's newly-launched universe, which Gunn and Co-Chair Peter Safran have conceived as a true competitor to Marvel Studios.

Superman: Legacy is slated to arrive in theaters July of 2025.
