Abrams and Coates to Team on Superman Reboot
A report from Shadow and Act indicates that Warner Bros. is in development on a reboot of their Superman franchise. Screenwriter Ta-Nehisi Coates is confirmed to be writing a script. J.J. Abrams is producing under his Bad Robot imprint. Bad Robot has many projects in the works with the studio, including last year's Lovecraft Country, as well as upcoming Justice League Dark and Constantine projects.
Coates is a journalist noted for advancing a woke and identitarian view of modern society. Abrams has not been shy about advancing woke perspectives in his work generating considerable ire from Star Wars fans. It would not be surprising if this take focused on the Calvin Ellis Superman, a character actor Michael B. Jordan has expressed playing in the past.

The series will, of course, run on Prime Video though a release date has not been announced.
