During a press event for the new Max streaming service, Warner Bros. Discovery offered a first look at Colin Farrell in The Penguin.
The Penguin is an in-development HBO Max TV series based on the DC Comics character the Penguin and directly spinning off from the feature film The Batman.
Colin Farrell, who plays the character in the feature film, is set to star in the series, as well as serve as executive producer. The show is described as a "Scarface-like" rise to criminal power for the character.
Cristin Milioti has been cast as Sofia Falcone. Clancy Brown is portraying crime boss Salvatore Maroni. Michael Zegen is rumored to be playing Alberto Falcone.
Also cast are Rhenzy Feliz (Runaways), Michael Kelly (Jack Ryan), Shohreh Aghdashloo (The Expanse), Deirdre O’Connell (Daredevil), Theo Rossi (Luke Cage), James Madio, Scott Cohen (Billions), Carmen Ejogo (Alien: Covenant), François Chau (The Expanse) and David H. Holmes (Mindhunter).
Craig Zobel (Mare of Eastown) is directing the initial episodes.
The show is to be executive produced by Dylan Clark, Matt Reeves, Farrell and Lauren LeFranc (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) who will serve as the showrunner.
