The twitter account for the X-Men spinoff The New Mutants has tweeted out a series of new photos, along with a new poster for the film.
The first is an image of what is likely the cell that Illyana Rasputin (played by Anya Taylor-Joy in the film) his held in. We can see that the occupant has etched away at the paint on the wall, carving out a landscape that looks to combine the domed structures of Russian architecture with a magical castle on a hill.
Then, there's a series of images around the character of Danielle Moonstar (aka Mirage). There are two photos of actress Blu Hunt, followed by a close-up of Dani's Bear pendant. This is an allusion to the Demon Bear storyline from the comics, which may play into the film. The Demon Bear is a supernatural entity from Native American lore responsible for the killing Moonstar's parents.
Finally, we have a creep new poster for the film, which opens in theaters April 03
The New Mutants is directed by Josh Boone (The Fault in our Stars) from a script he co-wrote with Knate Lee, both self-described fans of the comics.
The cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik, Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane, Charlie Heaton as Cannonball, Henry Zaga as Sunspot, Blu Hunt as Mirage and Alice Braga as Cecilia Reyes. The film reshapes the comic book story with horror overtones. Instead of being educated at an upstate school the five young mutants are imprisoned in a secret asylum-like facility.
