20th Century Fox's final X-Men movie has definitely moved from it's now infamous will-they-or-won't-they-release-it mode. The New Mutants has an official twitter account, the first post of which promises a new trailer for the movie at 6am tomorrow.
The film, directed by Josh Boone (The Fault in our Stars), was first promoted by Fox years ago with an eye on a 2018 release date. It has since been delayed repeatedly. When Disney acquired Fox it reset the date for April 3 of this year, but many speculated the movie could be rebranded without the X-Men connection, dumped to the streaming market or discarded altogether.
However rumblings for the past few weeks indicated the April 3 date is solid and the movie is the director-approved, horror-themed vision for Marvel's next-generation mutants.
The cast for the film includes Anya Taylor-Joy as Magik, Maisie Williams as Wolfsbane, Charlie Heaton as Cannonball, Henry Zaga as Sunspot, Blu Hunt as Mirage and Alice Braga as Cecilia Reyes.
The New Mutants storyline involves the five title mutants being held in a nightmarish facility from which they must escape.
