The Boys Spin-Off Loses Two
Prime Video's long-discussed live-action spin-off from The Boys has shed two of its cast members, according to a report from Deadline. Aimee Carrero and Shane Paul McGhie, who were announced about a year ago, are not going forward with the series. Carrero has opted for a role in Prime's upcoming dark comedy The Consultant. It's possible McGhie had similar opportunities that he wanted to explore while the spin-off slowly makes its way forward.
The show was given a full series order last September, but also brought on new showrunners in Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters. Deadline's reporting indicates that the creative shift caused some refactoring which delayed progress a bit, and presumably put stress on the casting agreements that had been made a half-year earlier.
The article does not indicate when cameras might roll on this one.
Deadpool 3 Lands Adam Project Director
Marvel Studios' Deadpool 3 now has a director, according to a report from Deadline. Shawn Levy, who directed star Ryan Reynolds in Free Guy and the just-released Netflix pic The Adam Project, is set to take the reigns of the franchise. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote the previous two films, are writing the script. Kevin Feige is, of course, producing and shepherding the sequel, which Marvel inherits from 20th Century Studios.
Levy, whose films also include franchises like Night at the Museum and Real Steel, tends to be more of a family-friendly filmmaker, so fans many want to get ready for a more PG-13 take on the merc with a mouth.
