Superman (1978)
Superman (sometimes known as Superman: The Movie) is the 1978 Warner Bros. feature film adaptation of the classic DC Comics character of the same name.
Richard Donner directed the movie, which proved to be a star-making turn from leading man Christopher Reeve.
The script, written by Mario Puzo, David Newman, Lesli Newman and Robert Benton, covers the origins of Superman starting from Krypton.
Marlon Brando plays Jor-El who sends his son to Earth to save him from a dying Krypton. There he's discovered by Jonathan and Martha Kent (Glen Ford and Phylis Thaxter) and is raised as Clark Kent. When he comes of age he travels to Metropolis where he meets Lois Lan (Margot Kidder) and goes public as Superman for the first time. The villain here is Lex Luthor (played by Gene Hackman).
The movie was a critical and box office success which spawned three sequels and is fondly remembered by fans.
