With the studios revamping schedules daily, it's not surprising that we've got some conflicts, even within linked franchises. Earlier this month Marvel/Disney moved their Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness to November 5, 2021 in order to accomodate a cascade of reschedules further up the food-chain in their crowded line of programming.
Now Deadline reports that Sony has decided they like that date too, for their Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel Spider-Man 3 (which we hope is called Spider-Man: Safer at Home). That film was due out July 16 of 2021, which would have been uncomfortably close to Sony's Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which was recently moved to June of that year.
With Spidey 3 now taking the date, the Sam Raimi directed Strange 2 is being moved to March 25, of 2022. But, that puts some squeeze on Taiki Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder. Marvel is now releasing that one February 11, 2022, a week earlier than previously announced.
Of course, Spidey 3 is now closer to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2, so Sony is relocating that one from April 8, 2022 to October 7, 2022.
Deadline's report doesn't mention changes for Black Panther II or Captain Marvel 2, both previously planned for summer 2022, but it seems unlikely those movies will hold their dates, as that would have Marvel releasing four movies in a six-month window.
