Man of Steel 2 is a defunct Warner Bros. Discovery live-action feature film project that was to be based on the DC Comics character Superman. It would have been the third film in the Man Of Steel film series, following Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
According to an October 2022 report from The Hollywood Reporter, WBD CEO David Zaslav and Warner Bros. Pictures chief Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy are eager to see a relaunched Superman franchise with actor Henry Cavill in the lead role. Charles Roven is producing.
Cavill later confirmed he is continuing the role on the big screen in an October 2022 social media post, following the release of Black Adam.
However, follow-up reports put an end to talk of the film. In November, WBD created DC Studios and put James Gunn and Peter Safran in charge of the new venture. Among the many changes made during that time period came the December announcement that a new Superman movie was in the works, and it would deal with a younger man of steel who would not be played by Cavill. Cavill followed up with his own anncouncement, confirming that he is not returning to the role of Superman after all. The news that effectively kills Man of Steel 2.
