Green Arrow and the Canaries is an abandoned TV series spin-off from The CW's popular Arrow.
The proposed show would have starred Katherine McNamara, Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy, reprising their roles as Mia Smoak, Laurel Lance and Dinah Drake from Arrow. The fact that the show was being pitched was confirmed by TV producer Marc Guggenheim.
Mia Smoak is the daughter of Stephen Amell's Oliver Queen character. In season 8 of the show, Queen presents her with a Green Arrow costume and makes it clear that he wants her to carry on the legacy once he is gone.
A backdoor pilot for the show aired as the ninth episode of the eighth and final season of Arrow. However, by January 2021, The CW announced they were no longer looking to develop the series.
Fans got some small closure on the story threads started in the pilot when McNamara appeared as the future Green Arrow on the "Armageddon, Part 5" episode of The Flash.
Film director Justin Benson has tweeted out that he and directing partner Aaron Moorhead have been hired by Marvel Studios to direct episodes of Moon Knight.
