Green Arrow and The Canaries Not Moving Forward
Although plans emerged last year to create a spin-off show of Arrow called Green Arrow and the Canaries, it now is being reported that The CW will not move forward with it. Deadline reports that the show, which was unveiled in an backdoor-pilot episode that aired January during Arrow's final season, is no longer in development. The show would have featured Katherine McNamara as a second generation Green Arrow with Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy as Black Canary-themed character fighting crime in 2040.
Spring Directors Tapped for Moon Knight
Film director Justin Benson has tweeted out that he and directing partner Aaron Moorhead have been hired by Marvel Studios to direct episodes of Moon Knight. The tweet also confirms previous announcements that Oscar Isaac is starring in the Disney+ series and that director Mohamed Diab will also be directing.
Benson claims to be a fan of the character since first reading the comics as an 8 years-old. The directing duo have helmed a string of intriguing indie genre pictures such as Spring, Resolution and The Endless, some of which occupy a loosely-shared universe. No release timeframe has been announced for Moon Knight, which was conspicuously absent from the recent Disney Investor Day announcements.
