Filming Underway on The Sandman for Netflix
Apparently filming is underway on Netflix's adaptation of DC Comics' ground-breaking comic book series The Sandman. Neil Gaiman, primary author of the comics, tweeted out the news earlier today stating, "[We] started shooting on Thursday. Dr John Hathaway has brought a book from the museum in which he works, to Roderick Burgess. But you're right, it's going to be time to announce some casting soon." The post alludes to characters who appeared in the very first issue of the comics, indicating that we may be in for a highly-faithful adaptation. As the tweet implies, Netflix has been tight-lipped about casting and other info.
Daniel Clowes' Patience Headed For Big Screen
Focus Features aims to adapt the Daniel Clowes graphic novel Patience as a feature film, according to a report on Deadline. Apparently the studio has been developing the project for years and Clowes has written a screenplay. The movie now adds director Charlie McDowell (The One I Love) will is set to rewrite the script with frequent partner Justin Lader. The story involves a widower whose long period of grief and despair is disrupted when he discovers he may be able to travel back in time and save the life of his murdered wife, Patience.
Xochitl Gomez Joins Doctor Strange 2
Deadline reports that young actress Xochitl Gomez will appear in the Marvel sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Gomez is best known of The Baby-Sitters Club. There is no word on what role she'll be playing.
