Nimona Film is Back, and Slated for 2023
A little over a year ago, fans received the disappointing news that Walt Disney had abandoned plans for an animated feature film based on Noelle Stevenson's Nimona graphic novel. Today comes the surprise announcement from Netflix that the a new version of project has been developed under the streamer and will arrive next year.
The cast includes Chloe Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass) as the lead voice of Nimona, Riz Ahmed (Venom) as Ballister Boldheart and Eugene Lee Yang as Ambrosius Goldenloin. Nick Bruno and Troy Quane (Spies in Disguise) are directing.
Anipurna Pictures is developing the film. Roy Lee, Karen Ryan and Julie Zackary are producing. Robert L. Baird, Megan Ellison and Andrew Millstein are executive producers. DNEG is the animation house.
The streamer provides this synopsis: "A Knight (Ahmed) is framed for a crime he didn't commit and the only person who can help him prove his innocence is Nimona (Moretz), a shape-shifting teen who might also be a monster he's sworn to kill.
