Hulu Developing League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Reboot
Hulu is reassembling The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen as a feature film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Justin Haythe (Red Sparrow) is developing the script for the project, which will reportedly be more faithful to the comics by Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neil than the previous adaptation was. Don Murphy, who produced the 2003 version, is producing this as well. Susan Montford and Erwin Stoff are also producing.
Marvel Studios' Echo Casting and Synopsis Released
Marvel.com has released new details about Marvel Studios' Echo, the new series coming to Disney+ in 2023.
The series synopsis provided indicates this is an origin story starring Alaqua Cox that, "revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward. Echo also stars Chaske Spencer (Wild Indian), Tantoo Cardinal (Stumptown), Devery Jacobs (Reservation Dogs) and Cody Lightning (Hey, Viktor!), with Graham Greene (1883) and Zahn McClarnon (Reservation Dogs)."
Episodes of the series are directed by Sydney Freeland (Reservation Dogs) and Catriona McKenzie (Gunaikurnai). Executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Stephen Broussard, Richie Palmer, Marion Dayre, and Jason Gavin (Blackfeet). Co-executive producers are Amy Rardin, Sydney Freeland, Christina King (Seminole), and Jennifer Booth.
Echo | First Image, 2023 Release Confirmed
Disney+ posted on social media today a first look at actor Alaqua Cox in her solo series Echo from Marvel Studios. The image isn't terribly revealing, and finds the actor seated in an industrial setting, wearing what looks to be combat gear. The post confirms that the show is on-target for a 2023 release. Echo spins off from Hawkeye, which introduced the character and put her on the path of revenge against Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio).
