Supergirl Adds Two Aliens
The CW has added two new recurring cast members for the final season of Supergirl. Deadline reports that Jason Behr and Claude Knowlton are joining the show, both playing aliens. Knowlton is said to be a "mild-mannered alien" of unspecified origin who assists the team in their mission. Behr, on the other hand, is a "famous" Kryptonian. Season six starts March 30, on The CW.
Kaci Walfall Nabs Lead in Naomi
The CW has begun casting on the pilot adapting the DC Comics character Naomi, according to a report from Deadline. Actor Kaci Walfall (Army Wives) has landed the lead role of a visitor from another world sent to protect the Earth. Also cast are Alexander Wraith (Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.) in the role of Dee, a tattoo artist with helpful insights, Cranston Johnson (Filthy Rich) as Zumbado a seemingly dangerous man with a shadowy past and Camila Moreno as Lourdes, who crushes on Naomi. The show is being developed by Ava Duvernay and Jill Blankenship.
WandaVision Grows Audience, Holds #3 Spot
The latest streaming numbers from the Nielsen ratings service are in and it's good news for the Disney+ series WandaVision. The show holds the #3 spot in the Originals chart for the week of February 15 to the 23rd. That's the second week in a row its has been at #3, with 720 million minutes of viewing time. That's a 20% gain over the previous week. The show had seven episodes available for viewing in this ratings window, and released a viral theme song for Agnes (Kathryn Hahn).
Avengers: Endgame, which appeared on the Movies chart last week, is still hanging in at #10. It racked up 116 million minutes of eyeball time, a slight drop from its performance in the previous week.
Loki Gets New Poster
Never one to ease up on the hype, Marvel Studios social campaign has released a poster touting their next series after the one that debuts tomorrow. The new image is of actor Tom Hiddleston in his upcoming Loki show. The character is seen wearing the prison garb and a restraint collar from whatever organization is holding him captive. He's standing in front of a clock face with way too many hands on it, and his collar bears the label, "Danger: Time Displacement / Stay Clear."
The emphasis on time makes sense considering the series picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame, in which Tony Stark and Scott Lang's botched attempt at stealing the tesseract allowed Loki to escape custody, thus forking a new timeline that does not directly lead to him being a prisoner in Thor: The Dark World.
The new series starts June 11 on Disney+.
