Naomi (TV Series)

Naomi is a 2022 live-action television series developed for The CW, based on the DC Comics character of the same name, created by Brian Michael Bendis and David F. Walker.

Kaci Walfall (Army Wives) is set to play the lead role in the series. Alexander Wraith is set to play Dee, a tattoo artist with helpful insights. Cranston Johnson is playing Zumbado, a seemingly dangerous man with a shadowy past. Camila Moreno plays Lourdes, who has a crush on Naomi. The cast also includes Barry Watson, Mouzam Makkar, Mary-Charles Jones, Aidan Gemme and Daniel Puig.

In the comics, Naomi journeys to our planet from an alternate Earth to protect it from a destructive force.

Naomi (Walfall) is a cool, confident, comic book–loving teenager. When a supernatural event shakes her hometown of Port Oswego to the core, Naomi sets out to uncover its origins, with a little help from her fiercely loyal best friend Annabelle (Jones). She also has the support of her adoptive, doting parents, veteran military officer Greg (Watson) and linguistics teacher Jennifer (Makkar). After an encounter with Zumbado (Johnson), the mysterious owner of a used car lot, leaves her shaken, Naomi turns to tattoo parlor owner Dee (Wraith), who becomes her reluctant mentor. While unfolding the mystery about herself, Naomi also effortlessly navigates her high school friendships with kids on the military base as well as well as local townies, including ex-boyfriend and high school jock Nathan (Puig); Annabelle’s longtime, loyal boyfriend Jacob (Gemme); proud “townie” Anthony (Will Meyers); and fellow comic book enthusiast Lourdes (Moreno), who works in a vintage collectible shop. As Naomi journeys to the heights of the Multiverse in search of answers, what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes.

Producer/director Ava DuVernay developed the show, with former Arrow writer Jill Blankenship serving as writer and executive producer. DeMane Davis (Queen Sugar) is also a co-executive producer and will lead the directing team. Sarah Bremner and Paul Garnes executive produce for ARRAY Filmworks.

The CW dropped the series in May of 2022, just after its first season concluded.
