WGA Strike Prompts Marvel Studios Release Changes
Lots of upcoming Marvel Studios films are getting new release dates, due to delays caused by WGA writers strike and negotiations, according to a report from Deadline.
While most of the changes represent delays Deadpool 3 is apparently sturdy enough to elicit an earlier release. The film moves from its November 8, 2024 date, to May 3, 2024.
It's pushing Captain America: Brave New World out of its spot to a new release date of July 26, 2024.
The July date was earmarked for Thunderbolts, which is now delayed until December 20, 2024.
Blade, which hasn't started filming yet, is moving from September 2024 to February 14, 2025.
That displaces Fantastic Four, which is now rescheduled for May 2, 2025.
The May date was supposed to be the debut of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which is now delayed until May 1, 2026.
That, of course, was the due date for Avengers: Secret Wars which is now way out on May 7, 2027,
Gotham Knights Gets The Axe
Amidst the post-sale restructuring of The CW, of the last DC Comics based shows has come to a swift conclusion, according to a report on Deadline.
Gotham Knights, which debuted on the network back in March, has been canceled. Word is that the ratings on the show were middling, but not terrible. Combine unimpressive numbers with the network's new emphasis on lower-cost, unscripted content, and you have a series that will wrap with just a single season.
The network has yet to signal cancellation or continuation on its last superhero show, Superman And Lois.
Gotham Knights will air its final episode on June 27.
