David Ramsey Returns to Arrowverse With New Series
Fan-fave actor David Ramsey is set to return to the Arrowverse, directing and starring in a new series called Justice U. Deadline reports that The CW is developing the concept with Superman & Lois producer Michael Narducci. The concept finds John DIggle mentoring five young metahumans who reside at a upper-class college. Ramsey is also set to direct the pilot episode. Also producing are Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, David Madden and Geoff Johns.
Hawkeye Holds at #2 in Week 5
The Nielsen Streaming ratings numbers have been released for the period of December 13 - 19.
Marvel Studios' Hawkeye got a boost this week, where the buzzworthy episode five dropped, with a major character reveal. The Disney+ series attracted 580 million minutes of viewership across its five episodes. That represents a 10% increase over the previous week. That keeps it in the #2 spot on the Original Programming chart, but moves it up from #6 to #4 on the Overall chart.
Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings finally exited the charts this week, not drawing enough to hang in the top 10 streaming movies.
What If...? Composer Scoring The Marvels
Variety reports that Marvel Studios' Captain Marvel family sequel The Marvels has landed a composer. Laura Karpman, who provided the music for Marvel Studios' What If...? has signed on to the film. The movie, originally conceived as Captain Marvel 2, is set to feature Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel. Nia DaCosta (Candyman) is directing from a script by Megan McDonnell (WandaVision). The film is set for a February 2023 release.
Batgirl Adds 3 As Cameras Roll
That Batgirl movie is filming in London as we speak, and three new cast members have been revealed. Heat Vision at The Hollywood Reporter details the additions as Rebecca Front (Avenue 5), Corey Johnson (Morbius), and Ethan Kai (Killing Eve). There's no indications of what role each actor be playing. They join Leslie Grace, J.K. Simmons and Brendan Fraser as Batgirl, Commissioner Gordon and the film's villain respectively. Batgirl has no release date and is being targeted at the HBO Max streaming platform.
Aquaman 2 Wraps Production
Initial production on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom officially wrapped yesterday. The news was posted on social media by director James Wan, who posted a photo on Instragram, with leading men Jason Momoa and Patrick Wilson.
Wan also expressed gratitude to his crew on the film, writing, "A THOUSAND THANK YOUs to all the incredible crew who worked so hard and tirelessly on this picture. Especially the UK portion where we shot 95% of the film. Truly some of the finest artisans and craftspeople I’ve had the good fortune to work with. And big shout-outs to the amazing Hawaiian and Los Angeles units.
"I have a very long way to go before it will be ready, but I can’t wait to share this little film with you all."
The "little film," a sequel to the highest-grossing DC Extended Universe film of all time, is due in theaters December 16.
