Xero Optioned for Film
Deadline reports that Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson has optioned the feature film rights to the short-lived DC Comics title, Xero under his G-Unit Film & Television banner. Christopher Priest, who co-created the character and premise, is involved in the development in some capacity, though it isn't made clear in the linked article. Other players involved in the production are Erika Alexander and Ben Arnon, producing for Color Farm Media, and Joseph Illidge, producing for Illuminous.
Xero was initially published by DC Comics, and set in the DC Universe, but the reporting suggests that Priest may have ownership of the intellectual property at this point.
The premise of the book focused on Coltrane Walker, a professional basketball player and former government assassin who now freelancer as a high-tech "closer" who can clean up difficult situations. One of the most peculiar aspects of the premise was that his costume included whiteface elements, disguising his race as well as his identity.
