The Hated Headed for Netflix
Deadline reports that Netflix has acquired the rights to develop the Solid Comix title The Hated for television. TV writer Michael Starrbury (When They See Us) sold the series to Netflix and will executive produce the show. The comic's creator David F. Walker is also producing with Adrian Askarieh of Prime Universe and Sean Owolo.
The concept tells of an alternate timeline where the American Civil War ended with the country split into two. Araminta Free is a gun-slinging bounty hunter from the North Country who specializes in missions into the Confederacy to track down war criminals.
Shang-Chi Battles Streaming Competition on Ratings Chart
The Nielsen Ratings service has been slow to publish numbers lately, but they have finally posted the results from the week of November 8 to the 14.
The big winner in the comics-adaptation sphere is Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The Marvel Studios movie made its Disney+ debut during the final days of that period, scoring about 1 billion minutes of viewership. The film ranked #2 on the Movies chart, as well as across all streaming charts. It trailed the crowd-pleasing Red Notice. It'll be interesting to see if it moves up on the next week's chart, where it'll be given a full week to play.
The next best C2F performer is Locke & Key on Netflix. The series enjoyed 409 million minutes of viewership against its 20 episodes. That's a drop of over 35% from the previous week. It still ranks #7 on the Original programming chart, down four spots from the previous week.
Marvel Studios' Black Widow also continues to attract an audience. The film recruited 168 million minutes of viewers, dropping less than 1% from the previous window. It slips from #6 to #9 on the Movies chart.
