Batman: Caped Crusader is Latest HBO Max Casualty
The content forecast on HBO Max has been pretty stormy lately in the wake with the Warner Bros. Discovery merger. The company has dropped the axe on nearly-completed films like Batgirl, while removing numerous titles from the streaming catalog, such as Aquaman: King Of Atlantis.
Now, Deadline reports that WBD is not moving forward with plans to launch the hotly-anticipated animated revival Batman: Caped Crusader on HBO Max. The show was a collaboration between Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series), Matt Reeves (The Batman) and J.J. Abrams that received a straight-to-series order last year.
The show, however, may not be dead. Borys Kit, who runs the Heat Vision pop-culture report at The Hollywood Reporter, reported on social media that the show is deep in production which has not been halted. The show was announced as a joint effort between HBO Max and Cartoon Network, so it seems likely the show will still arrive on that platform.
