The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Is #1 on the Charts
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has done the extraordinary on the Nielsen streaming charts. For the week of March 22 - March 28 the Disney+show took the #1 spot on the "Original" programming chart. This is unusual as the show only has two episodes in release for that time period, comprising less that two hours of content. Still those episodes garnered 628 million minutes of viewing time. That's an almost 27% increase in viewership. It will be interesting to see how viewership holds or grows as more episodes become available.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special Has a Script
Of all the Disney Investor Day announcements, the one that probably created the most puzzlement and skepticism among fans was the Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special. The title immediately evokes thoughts of the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special. However, writer/director James Gunn assured fans he "un-ironically loves" the lost Star Wars show.
Today, Gunn tweeted out a progress report on the project in the form of the title page to his script, dated April 22, 2021, along with the reassuring message, "This is the wrapping. The present is inside." This thing is happening, fans. The special should arrive for the holidays next year.
Platinum Studios Plots Vampire Prison Film
The long-dormant comics and film production company Platinum Studios announced today on social media that they are back in the movie business. In a tweet, the company names comic creator Scott O. Brown as the screenwriter for a film based on his graphic novel Vampire Prison. This is not a new project as the book was previously published under the title Nightfall and optioned to a major studio. It sounds like this is a fresh start for the project, which drops a tough, resourceful survivalist in a prison run by vampires who like to snack on the inmates.
