Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is Paramount Pictures' 2014 live-action feature film based on the franchise of the same name created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. It is the first film in the second TMNT film series.
The film follows April O'Neil (Megan Fox) who is rescued by mysterious vigilantes who she believes is protecting New York City from a crime wave being perpetrated by the Foot Clan. Her investigation leads to the discovery of the the titular heroes Leonardo (Johnny Knoxville), Donatello (Jeremy Howard), Michelangelo (Noel Fisher) and Raphael (Alan Ritchson) as well as their master Splinter (Tony Shalhoub). April inadvertently leads Shredder (Tohoru Masamune) to the group's sewer lair, leading to the capture of all but Raphael, who must now embark on a rescue mission. Will Arnett and Whoopi Goldberg also star.
Jonathan Liebesman directed the film from a script by Josh Applebaum, Andre Nemec and Evan Daugherty. The film was produced by Michael Bay and bears his signature style of action photography.
The film did well at the box office but was widely panned by critics. It was successful enough to prompt a sequel in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.
