Batman Forever is the 1995 Warner Bros. live-action feature film based on the DC Comics character Batman. It is a sequel to Batman Returns and the third film in the Batman '89 series.
Actor Val Kilmer plays Bruce Wayne in this one, replacing Michael Keaton in the franchise. This one introduced The Riddler, played by Jim Carrey, Two-Face played by Tommy Lee Jones and Robin, played by Chris O'Donnell.
Joel Schumacher takes over as director of the franchise. Tim Burton remained involved as a producer.
Responding to reactions that the previous film was too dark the filmmakers opted for a lighter tone.
Although the movie was poorly received by critics and not well-thought-of by fans, it massively out-performed the previous films at the box office, perhaps encouraging Warner Bros that the campier tone was a step in the right direction.
The film is followed by Batman And Robin.
