Batman Forever is the third film in the Tim Burton series.
Burton remains involved as a producer but hands off directing reigns to Joel Schumacher. Val Kilmer fills the cape and cowl of Batman this time out, with Keaton who became disinterested during the development of the project.
Responding to reactions that the previous film was too dark the filmmakers opted for a lighter tone. This one introduced The Riddler, played by Jim Carrey, Two-Face played by Tommy Lee Jones and Robin, played by Chris O'Donnell.
Although the movie was poorly received by critics and not well-thought-of by fans, it massively outperformed the previous films at the box office, perhaps encouraging Warner Bros that it was a step in the right direction.
