The Walking Dead | Andrew Lincoln Says Farewell to Danai Gurira

With this week's episode, actress Danai Gurira transitioned off The Walking Dead. Skybound Entertainment has shared this video message from Andrew Lincoln, who starred in the first eight and a half seasons of the show. Lincoln is apparently a bit of a musician, adapting melodies from "Live and Let Die" and "Gangsta's Paradise" in his video.

The show continues Sunday nights on AMC. Lincoln is slated to return to the franchise in the planned theatrical feature film.

In July of 2019 Skybound Entertainment released a teaser trailer touting a feature film set in The Walking Dead universe, which will reveal the fate of Rick Grimes.

Grimes is a staple of the comics and the series, played by Andrew Lincoln. Lincoln left the show at the mid-point of season 9, causing a significant reshuffling of the deck. Speculation is that the movie takes place in the six-year gap that happens in that season. Pollyanna McIntosh, who played Anne (aka Jadis) in the series, is also confirmed to be cast. Jadis mysteriously orchestrated Rick's helicopter transport in his final moments on the show and is directly intertwined with the character's fate.

Universal Pictures will distribute the film's theatrical release.

As The Walking Dead season 10 begins, it is now Spring, a few months after the end of season 9, when our group of survivors dared to cross into Whisperer territory during the harsh winter.

The collected communities are still dealing with the after effects of Alpha’s horrific display of power, reluctantly respecting the new borderlines being imposed on them, all while organizing themselves into a militia-style fighting force, preparing for a battle that may be unavoidable. But the Whisperers are a threat unlike any they have ever faced. Backed by a massive horde of the dead it is seemingly a fight they cannot win.

The question of what to do and the fear it breeds will infect the communities and give rise to paranoia, propaganda, secret agendas, and infighting that will test them as individuals and as a society. The very idea of whether civilization can survive in a world filled with the dead hangs in the balance.

The Walking Dead is the TV series adaptation of the Image Comics series created by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard.

Developed by filmmaker Frank Darabount in 2010 for AMC TV, The Walking Dead quickly became the number one franchise for the cable network. The show followed the story arcs of the comics somewhat faithfully, starting with sheriff Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) who survives a gunshot wound that puts him in a coma. When we wakes up the world he knew is gone. In this new world, the dead rise as flesh-eating walkers and Rick embarks on a journey to find his family and lead them to safety.

Rick eventually reconnects with his wife (Sarah Wayne Callies), his son (Chandler Riggs), his best friend Shane (Jon Bernthal) and the crew of survivors they've made camp with. That initial groupw includes Daryl (Norman Reedus), Carol (Melissa McBride), Glenn (Steven Yeun), Merle (Michael Rooker) and many more. The show spares no one their brutal fate is its massive cast of characters struggle to survive a world of decay and horror.
