The Suicide Squad is Warner Bros' live-action sequel to the 2016 film Suicide Squad, based on the DC Comics team of the same name.
The concept features a government-controlled task force made up of expendable super-villains. Margot Robbie returns to the sequel as Harley Quinn, with Idris Elba joining to fill the gap left by Will Smith. Elba will play Bloodsport.
James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) picked up directing and scripting duties when he was temporarily on the outs with Marvel/Disney. Production commenced on The Suicide Squad September 13th, 2019.
In addition to Robbie and Elba, the cast includes Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman and Jai Courtney, reprising their roles as Amanda Waller, Rick Flag and Captain Boomerang respectively. Newcomers in the expansive ensemble include Nathan Fillion, John Cena, David Dastmalchian, Joaquin Cosio, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Alice Braga, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland and Michael Rooker.
Peacemaker is the 2022 HBO Max live-action TV series spinning off from the Warner Bros/DC film The Suicide Squad, and based on the DC Comics character of the same name.
John Cena reprises his role as the warped hero who is so committed to peace he has designed an array of weapons to enforce it. The eight-episode TV series follows the events of the movie, putting the titular hero on a new mission under and off-shoot agency called Project Butterfly. James Gunn, who wrote and directed the feature, wrote the scripts and directed all episodes of the series. Gunn also produced the show with Peter Safran. Cena is executive producer along with Matt Miller (The 100).
Also cast in the show is Steve Agee and Jennifer Holland reprise their roles from the film as staffers on Amada Waller's task force. They're joined by fellow staffers Danielle Brooks (Orange is the New Black) and Chukwudi Iwuji. Freddie Stroma (The Crew) is on board to play Adrian Chase aka Vigilante. Nhut Le is set for Judomaster. Robert Patrick (Terminator 2) is set to play Auggie Smith. Additional cast members include Lochlyn Munro, Annie Chang, Christopher Heyerdahl, Elizabeth Faith Ludlow and Rizwan Manji.
