Hot on the heels of the news that Sony and Disney will not be making Spider-Man movies together going forward, Sony has also announced that Spider-Man: Far From Home is their most successful movie EVER, and they're putting it back on screens for another go next week.
As of August 18, the movie made $376.7 million domestically and $732.9 million internationally -- a total of $1.109 billion overall -- making it their best-performing movie since the 007 outing, Skyfall.
The studio is putting an extended cut of Spider-Man: Far From Home into theaters August 29th for labor day weekend. They new cut promises, "a never-before-seen action sequence." Fans who follow the trailers know that, before Spidey goes on vacation, he breaks up a New York City mob operation while wearing the Iron Spider suit. You can find clips and trailers online with glimpses of this scene, as well as the "big check" scene where Peter is wearing the Homecoming suit, instead of the Iron Spider.
Will fans turn out given the frustration over the Marvel split-up?
