Misfit City (TV Series)

Misfit City is a planned HBO Max TV series based on the BOOM! Studios comics of the same name created by Kiwi Smith, Kurt Lustgarten and illustrated by Naomi Franquiz.

Hannah Hafey and Kaitlin Smith (both of Popular) are set to create the adaptation. They'll serve as executive producers alongside Smith and Lustgarten. Stephen Christy, Ross Richie and Mark Ambrose are executive producers for BOOM! Mette Norkjae is co-executive producer.

The publisher describes the Goonies-inspired story as, "Nothing’s happened in Wilder’s hometown since they filmed that cult kids’ adventure movie there in the 80s…but that’s ancient history. Until one day, she and her friends come upon a centuries-old pirate map drawn by someone named Black Mary…and find out there might be some REAL adventure in their tiny town after all!"
