Mech Cadets is the 2023 Netflix animated TV series based on the BOOM! Studios comic book series Mech Cadet Yu created by Greg Pak and Takeshi Miyazawa.
The streamer announced the series in May of 2021. It is executive produced by Boom!, Japanese studio Polygon Pictures Inc. and Aaron Lam who serves as the writer and an executive producer.
Netflix provides this logline for the series: "Fifty years in the future, after a terrifying alien species attacked our planet, teenager Stanford Yu works as a janitor at the Sky Corps Military Academy. But he’s only dreamed of one thing his entire life -- to pilot a Robo Mech, giant robots from outer-space who came to our aid. When he finally gets his shot, Stanford and his classmates must put aside all personal differences and work together as a team in order to defend humanity against a new invasion of aliens."
Brandon Soo Hoo (Teen Titans: The Judas Contract) is voicing the lead role of Stanford.
Daniel Dae Kim (Hellboy) is the voice of General Aiden Park, the hard-nosed leader of the cadet program.
Ming-Na Wen (Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.) is set as Dolly Yu, Stanford's protective mother -- and janitorial boss.
Debra Wilson (MADtv) is in the role of Chief Max, who mentors the trainees.
Also cast are Aparna Brielle as Ava Patel, Victoria Grace as Olivia Park, Josh Sundquist as Frank Olivetti, Anairis Quinones as Maya Sanchez, and James Yaegashi as Captain Tanaka.
