Iron Man Film Series

The Iron Man film series is a cycle of three films set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Iron Man, Iron Man 2 and Iron Man 3.

While the films in this series this series are of wildly varying quality, there is no doubt that it is foundational to the success of Marvel Studios.

Prior Marvel Comics adaptations had been the work of other film studios, with Marvel attached as producers with limited creative control. Iron Man changed with Marvel, under the guidance of producer Kevin Feige, completely producing the movie on their own. The risk was even further compounded by the casting of Robert Downey Jr. in the lead. While the actor was a bonafide acting talent, he had an erratic history and was not known as a bankable star. The gambles paid of incredibly well, making Iron Man, Marvel and Downey top draws at the box office for the next decade.
