Green Lantern is the 2011 live-action Warner Bros. movie adapting the DC Comics character of the same name.
Ryan Reynolds stars as Hal Jordan, a test pilot working for Ferris Aircraft who happens upon a crashed spacecraft containing a dying alien, Abin Sur (Temuera Morrison). Sur is a member of a team off intergalactic peace-keepers called the Green Lantern Corps and bestows his weapon, the green lantern ring, upon Jordan. He's taken to Oa to train with Sinestro (Mark Strong), who believes the Corps should be investing in a new kind of weapon. At the same time, an Earth-bound scientist Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard) in researching a fear-based being called Parallax. Blake Lively, Taika Waititi, Geoffrey Rush, Clancy Brown and Michael Clark Duncan are also among the cast.
The film was directed by Martin Campbell from a script by Greg Berlanti, Michael Green, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Goldenberg.
Green Lantern failed at the box office and was panned by critics and shunned by fans. Reynolds famously lampooned the movie himself as part of the post-credits scene in Deadpool 2.
