Joker 2 Moving Forward
Every since the breakout success of the 2019 film Joker there have been whispers and rumors of a potential sequel. Now, writer/director Todd Phillips reveals there is some substance to the rumors. That confirmation comes in the form of a social media post revealing the cover page to a screenplay titled Joker Folie á Deux. The script bears a May 18, 2022 and writing credits for Scott Silver & Todd Phillips. The post comes with a second photo of star Joaquin Phoenix perusing the script.
In reporting on the social post, Deadline added some additional information. According to them, the movie is basically greenlit and its just a matter of the studio closing a deal with Phoenix. Deadline also illuminates the title as a medical term referring to a mental disorder that afflicts more than one person. Fans can begin speculating now about what other parties might be affected by Joker's madness, but the obvious answer would point to a psychiatrist who falls in love while slipping into madness herself. Finally, their report indicates that Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy will be producing the picture.
